Charlotte starred as Lisa, newly married to the laconic Dylan Moran, in Simon Nye's subtle and touching black comedy.
Moran's character is an Irish Londoner and professional comedian who marries a schoolteacher from a small country village, then lives to regret moving home with her. He is completely out of his depth in a town where everybody knows one another and immediately makes the worst impression possible, especially on his new in-laws who practically control the place.
To fit in, he buys the local photography studio despite not knowing the first thing about cameras. At one point Lisa's father (Finlay) offers him £20,000 to get divorced and leave town once and for all. He doesn't, of course, because the couple truly are in love. In a particularly memorable episode from the second season Moran ends up shooting his father-in-law out of sheer frustration, which I guess is about as black as comedy gets...
