You might think that Motormouth couldn't possibly have been
improved upon, but TVS had other ideas.
Their masterplan consisted
mainly of throwing Fun House presenter and
novelty-record making DJ Pat Sharp into the mix. "What
better way to push on into the 1990's", they must
have thought, "than with this 80's coiffured twat".
A more welcome addition -
faint praise if ever we gave it - was ex-Blue Peter
poppet Yvette Fielding (perhaps the Maggie Philbin of her
day).
What's Up Doc was
a co-production between TVS and Warner Brothers, and was
built around the latter's cartoons. Halfway through the
first series TVS were replaced on the credits by Scottish
TV (TVS having lost their franchise), though the series
was still made in Maidstone.
Also featured two comedy
wolves - 'Bro' and 'Bro' - who later got their own series.
The puppetting duo responsible for this lupine hilarity
later defected to Live and Kicking, where they didexactly
the same act, but this time in the form of a couple of
Leprechauns.
